Data sources

• Composite radar — NOAA MRMS (national multi-radar mosaic)
• Future radar — NOAA HRRR
• Single-site radar — NWS NEXRAD Level 3 (Unidata / AWS)
• Satellite — NOAA GOES-East / GOES-West; global view NOAA GMGSI
• Watches & warnings — NOAA Weather Wire (NWWS-OI), backed up by NWS api.weather.gov; map refreshes every 60 s
• Forecaster discussions — SPC mesoscale discussions, WPC flash flood discussions
• Storm tracks — NWS storm tracking + NOAA ProbSevere
• Lightning — NOAA GOES GLM
• Earthquakes — USGS GeoJSON feed (refreshed every 15 minutes)
• Observations — NOAA RTMA analysis, NOAA MRMS precipitation and hail
• Wind — NOAA GFS (global), HRRR & RTMA (U.S.)
• Basemap — CARTO & OpenStreetMap

Alert Types

Filter by country, then by category. Both filters have to allow an alert for it to show — e.g. turning USA off hides every USA alert regardless of the Watch/Warning toggle.

Choose which watch, warning, and advisory categories appear on the map.

Areas NWS forecasters are watching closely, often before a watch or warning.
